I started out with a Sony Cybershot...I use the night portrait option...most digital cameras have it....it's shown as a little moon next to a figure of a person. It uses flash, but it gives you a great effect....unfortunately you can take a million pics and only 5 come out...but those are rockin'. The feature pic on my page was taken with that setting. The guy came out really clear, but there's so much action around him.....that's also # 4 of that same angle...the rest sucked...but that one shot was worth it


Get a large memory card and got o town You'll end up surprising yourself....

actually, Im really bad with things that move because I hate the flash, and the brightness it brings in a normal photograph, I always take photographs without the flash and it always is a little blurry then (( .I only like flash when I take selfportraits

but yeah, since my camera is a digital one I don't really have much option, right? I don't know what I can do with it but I'm still learning its facibilities ))) however, thanks a lot for your suggestion! I think its a very wise idea (since its impossible to take 3425243 shots all perfect - or is it not? O_o) anyway, I ramble mooore. I just came back from one-day-vacation *sunburnt yet still all white* D; anyway! thanks a lot!

what kind of camera do you have?

I started out on a little Sony cybershot, which works great for live performance shots. All of the band photos in my gallery were shot with that. I've since moved up to a Nikon D40, which isn't the best Nikon model, but it's kick ass compared to what I had, and you can interchange lenses which is awesome and gives you a lot more options when shooting.

My only suggestion is look at a lot of pics and practice...take your camera everywhere you go and shoot at any angle possible. Don't aim, just shoot...I take about 156 shots at every show and even tho only a few may come out, those few rock.

I have a few links to some great DIY home studio ideas. You can make lighting fixtures for real cheap..which helps, because if you do go the route of getting an expensive camera, lenses and flashes cost an arm and a leg, so making what you can with what you have is an affordable option.

ok...I've rambled enough...hehehe..
